11 January 2017 - Regular Meeting
Steve Martin, Artistic Director for the Raven Players gave a presentation on the role of community theater and the status of programming for the coming year.

Steven talked about the function of the Raven Theater company noting that there are 8 shows last year, 5 in the Raven Theater and 3 in other venues. He spoke about this years shows including some "joke" contest with the community. He mentioned the need for venues to perform the plays this year.

The role of "artistic director" is to create a supportive vision for the theater in the community, as well as within the theater company itself. Live theater brings the community together in ways that are not possible through other media. Most of the performers in the local production company are truly local with some roles being filled by people outside the community. As the stature and reputation of the Raven Players has increased, there is an increasing interest by outside talent to audition for roles in productions.

As artistic director, Steve hopes to choose shows that appeal to our diverse community. Each season the players present five shows at the Raven theater, and provide performances at three off-site locations.

The current production, The Clean House will be presented the last weekend of January and the first two weekends of February. Information about this show, and other performances can be found at
