The Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise has given the community a much needed daytime Fourth of July Celebration.  This year, the annual event took place in Healdsburg Plaza in partnership with the City of Healdsburg.  To kick off the fun, over 160 children, dressed in patriotic costume, joined in the Kid's Parade around the Plaza.  Prizes were given to all kids with 5 special awards for creativity.  Families enjoyed free popcorn, sno cones, face painting, balloon toss, and pie eating contests. The City's Parks and Recreation staff set up a craft booth where kids could decorate a "ducky" to go.  And there was music...
The Russian River Ramblers, The Penguins, and El Cantante were all enjoyed by the crowd.

Thanks to the club's creativity and energy, under the direction of Shaun McCaffery and Jay Beckwith, this year's Duck Dash took place on Plaza Street while families cheered on the racing colored "duckies"  in hopes of winning one of the amazing prizes donated by the business community.  The GRAND PRIZE of $2500.00 was offered by Healdsburg Sunrise.  "This is the first year that we completely sold out of Duck Dash Tickets", noted Jim Brenton.  The Duck Dash Fundraiser grossed just under $22,000.   All proceeds benefit educational programs here in Healdsburg as well as abroad.
